Review:Before Jamaica Lane By Samantha Young

TITLE:Before Jamaica Lane

AuthorSamantha Young
Series:  On Dublin Street #3
Genre: Erotica, Contemporary Romance

Why did I read the book: Without a second thought I FLOVE Young's works. And all her writings need my attention.

“You'll end up living a lonely life if you're waiting around for perfect.”

One simple lesson in seduction between two friends can turn into so much more…
Despite her outgoing demeanor, Olivia is painfully insecure around the opposite sex—usually, she can’t get up the nerve to approach guys she’s interested in. But moving to Edinburgh has given her a new start, and, after she develops a crush on a sexy post-grad, she decides it’s time to push past her fears and go after what she wants.
Nate Sawyer is a gorgeous player who never commits, but to his close friends, he’s as loyal as they come. So when Olivia turns to him with her relationship woes, he offers to instruct her in the art of flirting and to help her become more sexually confident.
The friendly education in seduction soon grows into an intense and hot romance. But then Nate’s past and commitment issues rear their ugly heads, and Olivia is left brokenhearted. When Nate realizes he’s made the biggest mistake of his life, he will have to work harder than he ever has before to entice his best friend into falling back in love with him—or he may lose her forever….
The Story is A catch!!  (I do suggest you read Castle Hill before this book, because there are some overlapping of scenes.)

Olivia is a librarian, and with very little experience, she finds herself painfully shy around the opposite sex. Except around her best friend Nate. Though she has a secret crush on Nate, Liv doesn't really think of him like that because she knows the manwhore is totally out of her league, and she accepted that they could only be friends a long time ago. So there is nice football player, Ben, who keeps coming by the library.
“There’s a guy at the library. A student. Post-grad. I like him, but I sound like Rain Man every time I try to talk to him.”  “I’m going to die alone, Nate.”
And as unconsciousness pulled me toward it, I thought I heard him whisper, “Not on my watch, babe.”
Since Nate has tons of experience, and Olivia has next to none, he offers to help her.
“I know sex. You don’t. I’m going to teach you.”
“… Friends are important to me, Liv. And last night a friend cried in my arms and admitted she was unhappy.” He brushed my cheek affectionately. “You deserve happiness, babe. What’s the harm in letting me help you to try to obtain it?”
The lessons begin with Olivia’s confidence.“Let’s start with how you don’t feel sexually attractive.”
I gulped. “All right.”

“Are you fucking kidding me?”
As he caressed her butt, he explained about her supposed “fat arse”
“Not fat…Curvy. And I’ll let you in on a wee secret: there are still men out there that like a woman to be soft under their hands, to have curves, hips, tits and arse.”
He tapped my butt gently with the palm of his hand. “It’s a good arse, babe. I don’t want to hear you refer to it as anything else”
In fact, he really helped her confidence.
“If you were just some woman in a bar, I’d pick you out from all the others, take you home, and fuck you so hard you wouldn't be able to walk straight in the morning.”
I gulped.
In fact, I think I might have had a little mini-orgasm.”
As the lessons got sexier, the friendship lines began to blur.
“So lets get this straight. You want me to fuck you in order to teach you how to fuck another guy?”
And blur even further. But Nate was not a guy who could fall in love. His love was already taken, and lucky for Olivia, she had enough confidence in herself to know not to settle.
“I didn't just want Nate to love me. I wanted him to love me the way I loved him. The kind of love that’s so big it would last beyond a lifetime.”
Through it all along, what really shone through it all was Nate and Olivia’s easy friendship.
“What would you prefer? Life in a maximum-security prison or trapped in Jurassic Park?”
“Do I have a social standing in this prison?”
“No. You’re just an average Joe.”
“Then I guess I have to go with Jurassic Park.”
“Why?”
“Well, I’ll have constant fresh air, for a start, and also if I’m going to be anyone’s prey, I’m going to be the prey of an animal that’s acting out of instinct rather than psychopathy.”
“Good answer, babe. As always.”
“You?”
He shrugged casually. “If you’re in Jurassic Park, I’m in Jurassic Park.”
Review:[A warning: this review contains spoilers]

Best-selling author Samantha Young takes the notion of “friends with benefits” to a deliciously sexy new level in her On Dublin Street series through the third full length novel Before Jamaica Lane.
Take two best friends…one a confessed manwhore “It’s a manwhore miracle” , and the other a chick who hasn't had sex in a while…a long while…seven years long to be precise…and what do you get? An absolutely fantastic story.

Young’s heroines in particular are to be believable women with whom I can easily relate, which always allows me an instant connection with your work.  Olivia is no exception to this trend. She’s uncertain around men, despite the fact that she knows she’s “not hideous”, so has no confidence and believes that her awkwardness around men will leave her single forever. With men she knows? She is outgoing, funny and comfortable. Never is this truer than when she’s around easy-going Nate Sawyer. Nate is the best friend of one of Liv’s closest friends. He’s gorgeous, flirty, funny — all things Liv knows she can never have. She and Nate spend hours watching movies (he writes reviews for a blog) and tearing them apart. They are completely comfortable around each other. Even though she is very attracted to Nate, she knows his lady-killer ways won’t change and that he is out of her league.
But one drunken night, Liv tells Nate that she hasn't had sex in seven years. When he delves into the why of it, he discovers her total lack of self-confidence. When he realizes that there is a grad student who comes into the university library where she works and that she’s terrified to speak to him, he agrees to help her gain confidence. In the beginning, it’s about engaging in light flirting and showcasing herself a bit more than she had in the past. But soon, she wants more. She knows that Nate is very experienced, and she feels like he’s a safe harbor. He can help her become more confident sexually, so she can finally work up the nerve to speak to her grad student. Nate is deeply reluctant. He counts Liv among his very closest friends. He knows that it’s easy to get caught up in the emotional side of sex. But she assures him that she’ll respect the friend boundary, she won’t let her emotions get involved.“You trust me to do this with you, but I've got to trust that you won’t try to make this into anything more than a friend helping out another friend.”
But, because this is a romance, of COURSE emotion gets involved. As the lessons continue, each character falls a little deeper. Liv promises that she won’t become emotionally entangled, but she does. Nate refuses to get caught up. He lost a love in his younger years and does not want to go through that level of heartbreak again. So after a mini-break holiday where Liv meets Nate’s parents, Nate ends things. He can tell Liv wants a relationship, and he does not. Of course, being a smart girl, Liv points out that he sleeps at her house most nights, has not dated another woman since they started up, and invited her to meet his parents — they are, in fact, already having a relationship. Will they be able to reconcile their friendship? Will Nate see that he already loves Liv? How will they move forward?
There was a lot to like about this book. Olivia is smart, but also reads to me like a young 20’s woman. She *thinks* she won’t get caught up taking sex lessons from a bad boy, but of course she does. She’s young, and definitely naive, but she knows her worth and she doesn't put up with Nate’s commitment phobia. She ends things, cries and tries her best to move on. Her Logic: “It occurred to me that more than loss, it was the longing that hurt the most.”
Nate is a dreamboat of a hero. He’s experienced, funny, makes with the dirty talk, and is a total commitment-phobe. What I liked about him, is that when he realizes his mistake, he throws himself into getting Liv back. He pursues her, and in the end, makes a fabulous Big Romantic Gesture that made me heave the big sigh. I love a hero who gives good grovel. Nate's own words: “Liv's perfect. She deserves perfect. She won't be settling for anything else.” Although this book can stand alone, there are myriad references to past couples, which may be distracting for a reader who prefers to enjoy books in order.

The Chemistry:
Nate and Liv start off as best friends. I love the way they interact. Liv has always had a crush on Nate tho…it’s just that she’s never acted on it because she doesn't want to lose what they have…O…and she fails to realize that he finds her very attractive. She’s kind of clueless in that respect. I think it’s pretty apparent to the reader that this couple will have awesome chemistry when they go beyond the whole bff thing. As the dynamics between them change the chemistry becomes scorching!
“I never meant to fall in love with you. But I did. I felt it the first night I made love to you. I tried to walk away then because I've never felt so lost and yet so fucking found as I felt that night looking into your eyes as I moved inside you.”

The Heat Factor:
Holy crap! The heat factor for this couple is off the charts. You will not be disappointed by the sexy times this couple enjoy…once they reach that point. Kudos to Samantha for her gift of writing wonderful, HOT, and beautiful love scenes.
The very finishing lines of the novel do take a great amount of credit for its success as a ROMANCE.
“Upstairs in my bed, where it had all started, I slowly made love to Nate, promising him with every inch of me, that the ‘after’ we’d found together … well … it was forever.”

Before Jamaica Lane also gave us a different perspective into the story that was told in Castle Hill.  We finally saw what happened the night before Joss and Braden made up and what Olivia’s actual role was in it.  Braden Carmichael should be kissing the ground Olivia walks on because she probably saved his relationship.
MY FAVORITE PARTS:
“You're not ready to hear this yet," he concluded. "But I do need you to know that I'm going to fight for you. I'm not making the mistake of walking away from you again. The only man in you future is me, Liv. The only kids in your future are mine.”
“You okay?’ Nate asked warily.
My fingers shook with the hangover as I leaned across my sink. ‘I look like the Bride of Frankenstein with a massive hangover.’
‘I’d be hungover too if I’d just had to fuck Frankenstein.”

VERDICT: For me, Before Jamaica Lane features a truly enjoyable and a really satisfying love story. This was a great installment in the On Dublin Street series and I do have Until Fountain Bridge handy and am looking forward to review Fall From India Place. Hannah had a few hilarious moments in this book and I am eager to write about her carrying a story on her own. Before Jamaica Lane is a terrific read for fans of the series and should not be missed!
My rating for Before Jamaica Lane by Samantha Young is 4 HOT stars out of five.
Suggestions: Considering one's interest in Smexy / erotica romance Before Jamaica Lane can be a good choice. My next read (re-read actually) for review will be Fall From India Place (ODS#4).

Down London Road by Samantha Young

TITLE:Down London Road

AuthorSamantha Young
Series: On Dublin Street #2
Genre: Erotica, Contemporary Romance
Why did I read the book: On Dublin Street did get under my skin and Young's writings urged me to take up the next book. I guess made the right choice.
The lines that stole the credit:
" She thinks she knows what she wants....
Until he shows her what she needs."

How did I get the book: Downloaded the Ebook after reading the first book in the series.

The Story: (Author's Own Words)

Johanna Walker is used to taking charge. But she’s about to meet someone who will make her lose control....

It has always been up to Johanna to care for her family, particularly
her younger brother, Cole. With an absent father and a useless mother,
she’s been making decisions based on what’s best for Cole for as long as
she can remember. She even determines what men to date by how much they
can provide for her brother and her, not on whatever sparks may—or may
not—fly.

But with Cameron MacCabe, the attraction is
undeniable. The sexy new bartender at work gives her butterflies every
time she looks at him. And for once, Jo is tempted to put her needs
first. Cam is just as obsessed with getting to know Jo, but her walls
are too solid to let him get close enough to even try.

Then
Cam moves into the flat below Jo’s, and their blistering connection
becomes impossible to ignore. Especially since Cam is determined to
uncover all of Jo’s secrets…even if it means taking apart her defenses
piece by piece.

My Point-Of-view: (#Spoiler_Alert)
“What I feel for you … It’s all-consuming", he breathed, leaning his forehead against mine again. "It’s almost debilitating. It’s too much. It’s … I can’t even describe it, but being with you is … there’s this intensity inside me all the time, this … constant pull, desperation … it’s like you’re branded on me or something. And it bloody well burns.”

The author takes great care in getting the reader to know Johanna or Jo, and her teenager brother Cole whom she parents. Her father is not in the picture and her mother is a severe alcoholic who can barely leave her room, and when she does, is extremely nasty to both Jo and Cole. But as Cole is still a minor, Jo fears about reporting her mother’s behavior to the authorities as they might take Cole away from her.

I ended up really enjoying Jo’s character and I think she is my most favorite thing in this story. She has given up on herself and her future. She has an intense need to feel safe and to be able to take care of Cole. She only dates older, wealthy men one day hoping to marry one of them, so her future is secure. She would rather live a life that is fake, than risk her future with her brother.
“Some people are born with family, and others have to make family.”

In On Dublin Street, we are given the impression that Jo is nothing more than a flaky girl looking for a sugar daddy; someone to buy her pretty things for sex. Yet, in here, we are quickly disabused of that first impression. Once I met the real Jo, I fell for her hard. So strong and selfless, I was impressed by her tenacity.
To quote Cam at this point
“I've never met anyone as quietly brave and strong as you. I've never met a woman so unassuming, so kind, and so selfless. You are a complex lady." His mouth curled up at the corners. "And you are smart, and passionate, and funny, and exciting, and you blow me fucking away.”

Jo is the one taking care of everything. But who looks after her? When Cameron MacCabe comes into her life, a smoking hot twenty something bad boy artist whom Jo meets at her current boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend’s art show, he judges her by what he sees - a girl dating men who have only have big wallets, however once he gets to know Jo, he realizes she's not what she seems. They fast became friends and soon their attraction is undeniable. But can Jo really take a chance on love or will she always settle for what she thinks is best?

Again I like how Cam is a bit pushy into coming into her life, and once he understands who the real Jo is, he doesn't judge her nor pity her living situation. He stands up for her, and is there for support. At times together they the cutest couples ever...
“Cam and I just broke up."
Cam laughed, hugging me even tighter into his side.
I huffed, trying to wriggle free. "What are you doing?"
"Getting back together with you.”
And I also loved his relationship with Cole, Jo’s brother. I think Samantha Young writes a nice teenager – a good mix of young and maturity.
One person I truly felt for was Malcolm (Jo’s ex-boyfriend). I liked him and it was sad watching him slowly acknowledge his love for Jo. He became a bigger part of the book then I expected.

I think the build-up to Cam and Jo’s relationship and the way their love unfolds is written well. My favorite part is watching Jo’s self-confidence build. How she gets mad at Cam because he makes her want things in life that she was previously too scared to even dream of. (Like when she quits her job). He not only gives her his sexy body (well hello there! ;)
“I’m going to fuck you so hard, sink so keep inside of you, you’ll never work me out from under your skin. Never.”
but he gives her confidence and security where she never thought she would find it.
That right there is love.

Seeing Jo grow emotionally and mentally was the highlight of the book. It was done so well with the additional character inputs and the balance between the romance and the plot lines.
All in all, Down London Street was much, much more than I expected it to be. A deceptively complex romantic contemporary that will have you laughing, crying, and swooning with delight.

There actually weren't a ton of sexy scenes in Down London Road but the few that were there blew me away. There’s this one scene in a dressing room… OH MY GOD!! (That’s all I have to say about that. )
I liked how the conflicts in Down London Road felt very realistic.
“I was an awful, awful person. Yup. My world was full of color. Red for want. Yellow for shame. Green for jealousy.”
So many times in romance books the main conflicts are just so… petty. They weren't petty in Down London Road. I could totally relate to them and understand where both characters were coming from

My Favorite Parts:
“You know, men don’t think like women.”
“Well…” I pulled a face. “That’s because you have the emotional capacity of a shot cup.”Or,
“I think we need to come up with a child-friendly phrase for f-u-c-k off."
"Duck off?"
"Exactly. Braden, duck off, you sarcastic dastard.”

Verdict: I really enjoyed the book. In all, Down London Road is a steamy, passionate and all-consuming read and, once I started reading I didn't want to stop, and no it wasn't just about Cam but because of how beautifully Samantha writes. So if you haven't read any of her work yet, I urge you to do so.
My Rating: I give Down London Road 3.5 stars out of 5.
NEXT READ: I totally have my eye on her next one in this series Before Jamaica Lane ODS #3 (Review coming soon)

Review: Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick

FINALE ( Hush Hush #4)
Author: BECCA FITZPATRICK
Genre: YA, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance

There had been ups and downs, still Patch and Nora managed to survive so far. But for how long more??

Will love conquer all?

Nora and Patch thought their troubles were behind them. Hank is gone and they should be able to put his ugly vendetta to rest. But in Hank's absence, Nora has become the unwitting head of the Nephilim and must finish what Hank began. Which ultimately means destroying the fallen angels - destroying Patch.

Nora will never let that happen, so she and Patch make a plan: lead everyone to believe they have broken up, and work the system from the inside. Nora will convince the Nephilim that they are making a mistake in fighting the fallen angels, and Patch will find out everything he can from the opposing side. They will end this war before it can even begin.

But the best-laid plans often go awry. Nora is put through the paces in her new role and finds herself drawn to an addictive power she never anticipated.

As the battle lines are drawn, Nora and Patch must confront the differences that have always been between them and either choose to ignore them or let them destroy the love they have always fought for.

The Review: (#Spoiler_alert)
Please note: This book is part of a series. There may be spoilers for previous books in the series in this review as well.

The concluding installment in Becca Fitzpatrick’s popular Hush, Hush saga, Finale pits true love against darkest evil as relationships are tested, lives are lost, and some, but not all will make it to a happy ever after…

Hush, Hush introduced us to their roller-coaster love, Crescendo left us breathless for more, Silence was, um, frustrating, and, now, in Finale, Patch and Nora’s love is tested to the limit as they stand on opposite sides of an impending battle.  Will true love prevail or will Nora have to leave Patch behind in her quest for a peaceful life on earth for the Nephilim?

We pick up where we were left on Silence, with Nora trying to make the Nephilim not fight against the angels. Hank’s second in command, Dante Matterazzi, says he’s going to help her, because he swore an oath to Hank to do so. He starts training Nora so she’ll be faster and stronger, and he also tries to help her with the other Nephilim. Turns out that the word’s out on the streets and they know she’s been dating a fallen angel, so Nora and Patch fake a public breakup and Dante is more than happy to help them.
Meanwhile, Nora is having some trouble with this whole “we are not together” public thing. Of course she has, she just can’t follow any plan they have, right? She’s still jealous of Patch and can’t even hear the name Dabria. Yes, ladies and gentleman, Dabria is back again—for Nora’s desperation. But Dabria is the last of Nora’s problems, she has to deal with the Nephilim, and she has do to something quick. She also gains herself a new roommate. Marcie Miller, our favorite person *smirks*. That adds a lot of tension and humor to the story.
After one of their training sessions, Dante gives Nora a bottle full of a blue liquid that she believes it’s Gatorade. He fools her into drinking it, and she soon finds out it’s an enhancement drink called Devilcraft. And Nora thought she had destroyed it all… Turns out that Hank had someone working on these drinks and she had no idea. The drink makes her temporary stronger and faster, but it’s also highly addictive, as Nora soon realizes.
There’s also a new villain—or sort of—going around them, an archangel named Pepper Friberg, who is trying to talk to Patch at all costs. The guy’s been blackmailed by someone, and it seems he believes Patch is the one doing it. Patch believes Pepper made this all up because he wants to “chain him in hell.”Nora immediately tells Patch about the devilcraft, which is illegal on earth by archangel law. They begins to hunt for the man, Blakely, who is working with it.

If you have read my previous reviews You will know I kinda-ff write the whole story but this time I made myself promise not to disclose a good many portions of the book. For all I can say , there will lots of oomphs, awes, loss(unexpected which You might not like) and treachery from a close associate.
Among these high tension and fear of losing each other, our protagonists still manage to express their love for one another.
“I saw you, and I wanted to be close to you. I wanted you to let me in. I wanted to know you in a way no one else did. I wanted you, all of you.”
“Kiss me in a way I'll never forget. Kiss me in a way that will stay with me until see you again.
Patch backed me into a tree and kissed me, hard.
I regained my breath. "Boys take not everywhere: That was a kiss.”

FINALE had several things I didn't see coming. It’s always fun with an author throws you a couple of curve balls. You think you know how things are going to end and then BAM! You get hit in the face!
Also, be sure to have your tissues ready because if you have a heart you will cry. There is a pretty major death so prepare yourselves! Don’t say I didn't warn you! Finale has it all. Love, loss, betrayal and an epic battle of good versus evil.

With the end of the series Patch and his love for Nora will be greatly missed.
“I want to wake up with you every morning and fall asleep beside you each night,” Patch told me gravely. “I want to take care of you, cherish you, and love you in a way no other man ever could. I want to spoil you — every kiss, every touch, every thought, they all belong to you. I’ll make you happy. Every day, I’ll make you happy.”

And Patch lovers might not like this but It's true he is--um--taken.
“I swear to you, Nora Grey, on this day, from now and forever, to give myself to you. I am yours. My love, my body, my soul—I place in your possession and protection.” He held out the ring, a single offering, a binding promise.”

There are scenes where Patch never cease to surprise us with his sexiness.
“Nice costume," he said.
"Ditto. I can tell you put a lot of thought into yours."
Amusement curled his mouth. "If you don't like it, I can take it off.”
I tapped my chin thoughtfully. "That just might be the best proposal I've had all night."
"My offers are always the best, Angel.”

His possessiveness continues....
“You’re mine, Angel. Every last piece of you. I won’t let anything change that.”

Throughout the serious I liked Nora's sense of humor quite entertaining.
“I hitched my thumb at the stairs. “I’m going to my room to bang my head against the wall a few thousand times. Anything has to be better than this.”

OR
“There´s my date, I said. "Fashionably late."

I even love this line from Patch's letter:
"I may have fallen from heaven, but I fell for you."

Whatever other reviews say, I liked loved the ending of FINALE. It gives readers a nice resolution.
“This was it. Together. Forever. As we left it all behind, the sun warmed my back, lighting the way before us. I knew of no better omen.”
I loved that Fitzpatrick chose to skip ahead a few years in the Epilogue.

The exact Final quotes:
“You dress to impress," I said approvingly.

"No, Angel." He leaned in, his teeth softly grazing my ear. "I undress to impress.”

However, I did think that there was a question that should have been answered a little better. That’s the whole thing about whether how if a Nephilim doesn't swear fealty how they age. All that was said was that they didn't know because it had never happened before. Other than that I thought FINALE was a great conclusion to a great series.

And above all I get to learn a new trick from this series to solve every single problem.
“Fake it till you make it.” *No pun intended*

Did I like it? Yes.
Would I reread it? If I'm rereading the whole series, yes. (Which I need to do, back to back.)
Would I purchase it? I already have the kindle.
Would I recommend it? Yes, because the series must be finished--it's Hush, Hush!

My Rating: I give Finale 3.5 stars out of 5 and my over all rating for the series is 3. The previous books in the series ( HUSH HUSH, CRESCENDO, and SILENCE) are also reviewed.
NEXT READ: I will be reading my study books for a while as my exams are around the corner. But you can try some fresh and light after this fast-paced mystic paranormal series.

SILENCE by Becca Fitzpatrick

Title: SILENCE (Hush, Hush #3)
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Genre: YA (Urban Fantasy), Paranormal, Romance

Why did I read the book: Fast-Paced and exciting with multiple plot twists and a crazy cliffhanger ending that left me wanting more, Becca Fitzpatrick’s Crescendo urged me to take up the third book. The moment I put down Crescendo I started reading Silence and finished it overnight!
First thought came in Mind: WHEN SILENCE IS ALL THAT'S LEFT, CAN THE TRUTH FINALLY BE HEARD?

The Plot:
Nora Grey can't remember the past five months of her life. After the initial shock of waking up in a cemetery and being told that she has been missing for weeks - with no one knowing where she was or who she was with - she tried to get her life back on track. Go to school, hang out with her best friend, Vee, and dodge mom's creepy new boyfriend.

But there is this voice in the back of her head, an idea that she can almost reach out and touch. Visions of angel wings and unearthly creatures that have nothing to do with the life she knows.
And this unshakable feeling that a part of her is missing.

Then Nora crosses paths with a sexy stranger, whom she feels a mesmerizing connection to. He seems to hold all the answers...and her heart. Every minute she spends with him grows more and more intense until she realizes she could be falling in love. Again.

My review:(Spoiler alert)

The third book of the Hush Hush series starts with Nora waking up in the middle of a cemetery. She doesn't know how she’s got there, and she knows she should trust no one. It turns out that she’s been missing for the past five months, no one knew where she was—and that includes Nora herself. She can’t remember anything that happened since April—besides the fact that she disappeared in June, which she thinks it’s odd. If her amnesia was caused by something that happened while she was kept as a hostage—the police believes she’s been kidnapped, why she can’t remember things from before the incident then?

As Nora pieces parts of the puzzle together, it became more and more entertaining.  She really tries to take matters into her own hands and is determined to do so, regardless of what her mom says.

Key characters make noteworthy appearances. Scott Parnell is on the run from Hank and his Nephilim army. He seeks Nora's help by climbing through her bedroom window in the middle of the night angling an invitation as her date to the upcoming homecoming dance. The relation between them grows well enough to be called best friends.
“Fine! I'll throw on some clothes. Turn around. I'm in my pj's"

"I'm a guy. That's like asking a kid not to glance at the candy counter.”

Detective Basso is the first to discover Nora wandering in a cemetery months after her abduction, although she faints when he approaches her. Marcie Millar is no stranger to making Nora's life a living hell, but while acting as Hank's puppet she attempts to form an alliance with Nora even taking her dress shopping.
Patch is still in Silence and Nora spends most of the book drawn to him, but she's not sure why.  Once she realizes her connection to him, things pick up again.
“In the end, the only thing between us was silence.” The spotlight remains on the deepening relationship of Patch and Nora. For the first time, Patch is solidly committed to making it work with Nora despite the odds.
“You're mine, Angel. And I'm yours. Nothing can change that.”
He has made the decision that she is his destiny and he will let nothing stand in the way of their love for each other. He has gone from a boy's passing interest to a man's fully developed attachment to the woman he loves.
“I missed you, Angel. Not one day went by that I didn't feel you missing from my life.'
For Nora's sake, it's about time. Patch has finally realized the full breadth of his feelings for her. “I learned that I was either crazy in love with you, or putting on the best performance of my life.'

Overall, an angel loses his wings finally proving the devotion of his love.
“I would lay down everything I possess, even my soul, for you. If that isn't love, it's the best I have.”

Oh God. Patch never fails to let me imagine his Black, sexy eyes and his hot body. Every time he was described I smile and get this particular picture n mind who I assume was my version of Patch. If only I could draw well and share him to you guys, you would have drooled. He is THAT hot!
“I couldn't look at you and breathe at the same time.”
And oh, I can’t stop thinking about Patch’s chamber, his house, his secret loom. The way it was described, it seems to have given you full-time privacy and no one has ever gotten inside. His silk bed sheets and how amazing Nora told us his mattress was some kind of a dreamland, I guess.
“I wanted to imprint his touch, his taste, even the scent of him so solidly inside me that no one could take them away from me.”

The humor and wits of Patch  Jev is same as the first two books.
“Jev stroked his chin. "Do I look like a summer fling?”

And...
“Hate to disappoint, but no feathers. I came to Earth stripped naked.”

And..
“I need to brush my teeth. And I need a shower."
He grinned, hopping off the bike. "Now that is an invitation.”

Before the book ended, Nora got her ring from her father and Patch engraved their names on it: NORA and JEV
Compared to the previous books, Silence has a happy note and Love triumphs above all.
“Stay with me tonight. Let me hold you even if that's all it is. Let me keep you safe.”

Fitzpatrick has an engaging writing style with great character development- not only the main characters but also some of the side-kicks like Vee, Scott and Marcie. But what makes me turn the pages rapidly; reading late into the night is the suspense and being one step behind of what is to come. Even though it is written in first POV, Becca finds a way to leave the reader hanging until the very end. Even if Patch and Nora coming together seems predictable the journey there is always exciting and just when you think that they can live happily ever after another cliff-hanger will leave you bubbling with frustration until the next title.
Nora is generally an independent girl with a good head on her shoulders. Following her kidnapping, she tries to come to terms with her amnesia and demonstrates strength in doing so. Some part of her longs for Patch, even though she does not actually remember him. When the two are reunited, there are quite a few passionate embraces, but Nora is not ready to complicate their relationship with sex. The story involves lots of action and fantasy violence, and it turns out that Nora's real father is the same man who is responsible for kidnapping, harming, and threatening her life. In the end, Nora tries to spare his life in spite of what he has done to her and her mother, but shoots him when left with no alternative. Language is present but relatively mild (b-stard, pr-ck, d-uche bag). Fans will look forward to the final installment in the series, Finale.

Notable Quotes:

  • “The truth is scary, but knowing nothing is crippling.”
  • “Anything was better than nothing. Half-full was better than empty. Ignorance was the lowest form of humiliation and suffering.”

Rating: My rating for Silence is 3 stars out of 5.
